Manager Search 7
The Loudon City council met again last night to
address the manager position. Again, the council split 2-2 on a vote to
install Loudon City mayor, Jeff Harris, as the manager. Councilmen Tim
Dixon and Bear Webb voting for Harris and councilmen Eric Newman and
John Cardwell voting no. Mayor Harris was in attendance at the meeting
but once again failed to take his seat as mayor and participate in the
meeting.
Ultimately, the council has decided to reopen the application process and allow any city employee or anyone else to apply for the job. At next Monday's meeting, the council will set terms for new applicants, how long they will take applications and when they will make any decisions. They also discussed appointing a new interim city/LUB manager. Currently, Harris is the interim manager. With the council evenly split, this course of action may be the best way to move forward. If mayor Jeff Harris is truly committed to this idea and still wants to apply, he should resign his elected position as mayor and apply as any other candidate for the job. Next meeting will be February 26. |
