Loudon City attorney, Kris Frye, informed LUB board members at their special called meeting that Harris wanted his name withdrawn from consideration. Board members discussed the next step would be another joint meeting with the council to map a path forward.

Harris's decision likely comes as a relief to the long running standoff between city councilmen who have been evenly split on the vote to hire Harris. However, a lot of problems could have been avoided if Harris had come to this conclusion several months ago when he was cut from the list of candidates.

The council and LUB will need to come with a new path forward now.
