News Herald Arrest Report
Man charged with vehicular assault
A Grandview man is facing a vehicular assault charge
after law enforcement responded Friday to a wreck with injuries on
Calloway Road.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Nathaniel Crow
arrived on the scene and was told by a Loudon County Sheriff’s
Office deputy that a passenger in the vehicle was transported to
University of Tennessee Medical Center for injuries, including
amputation of three fingers and “serious muscular and tissue damage”
to her left hand.
“I then made contact with Andrew Lee Jackson, who
stated that prior to the crash, he and the passenger had been
drinking at a friend’s house,” Crow wrote in a report. “The subject
also stated that he had approximately ‘half a case’ of beers, which
included several Busch Lights and Yuengling Lagers."
On a scale from 0-10, with 10 being the most
intoxicated, Jackson claimed he was a six. Jackson performed
poorly on field sobriety testing.
Crow later spoke with the female passenger at the
hospital.
“She stated (Jackson) was indeed the driver of
the vehicle and had been drinking heavily prior to driving,”
Crow wrote in his report. “The passenger also stated that
(Jackson) attempted to persuade her to claim that she was
driving the vehicle.”
Jackson, 23, was charged with driving under the
influence and vehicular assault and held on $23,500 bond.
Marijuana found
A Florida man and North Carolina woman are facing
drug charges after a call Feb. 5 of reckless driving on
Interstate 75.
Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Matt
Fagiana spotted the vehicle at mile marker 76 on I-75. Witness
reports noted the vehicle had driven off the roadway several
times.
The driver, later identified as Tomas Xavier
Collier, was unable to produce identification. National
Crime Information Center revealed Collier’s license was
suspended out of Florida and Ohio.
“A check of the vehicle’s registrations and
rental agreement revealed that the vehicle was overdue and,
furthermore, the authorized user/driver was not present in
the vehicle,” Fagiana wrote in a report. “A call to Dollar
Rental determined that the rental agreement was void and the
owners of the car, Dollar Rental, requested to be called to
scene to take possession of the car since the contract was
void.”
An inventory of the vehicle included two
small baggies in plain view in the rear seat, which was
where Alexandria M. Harrison had a white powdery substance
similar to a Schedule II narcotic.
“During a plain-view search, a large amount
of green, leafy-like substance, believed to be marijuana,
was located in a black suitcase,” Fagiana wrote in his
report. “Both offenders refused ownership of the Schedule
VI. The marijuana weighed in at about 24 grams.”
Collier, 22, Delray, Fla., was charged
with manufacture, sell, delivery or resale of a Schedule
IV substance and held on $30,000 bond.
Harrison, 26, Pinehurst, N.C., was
charged with manufacture, sell, delivery or resale of a
Schedule IV substance and held on $30,000 bond.
