News Herald Arrest Report
Man caught with 30 pounds of meth
A New Jersey man is facing drug charges after law
enforcement initially pulled him over for running a stop sign.
Noticing a 2006 Chrysler 300 fail to halt at
Commercial Park Drive and Centre Park Boulevard, Loudon County
Sheriffs Office Deputy Cody Fritts initiated a traffic stop. Fritts
noted the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road with its hazard
lights on.
Fritts identified the driver, Ariel T. Medina-Vera,
44, who appeared confused and extremely nervous.
His nervousness was evident to the deputy by the
uncontrollable shaking of his hands and responses to questions,
Fritts wrote in the report. During the course of the stop a
drug detection dog was deployed on the vehicle and this resulted
in a positive alert to the presence of narcotics.
Medina-Vera provided unsolicited information
regarding a gym bag in the vehicles trunk, where law
enforcement found 30-32 pounds of what was believed to be
methamphetamine. He claimed the bag was not his and he did not
know what it contained.
Inside the gym bag were four T-shirts that appeared new and underneath were eight large wrapped bundles containing meth.
Agents with the 9th Judicial Drug Task Force, the
5th Judicial Drug Task Force, Lenoir City Police Department and
Loudon Police Department were called in to help the
investigation, according to Ninth Judicial District Attorney
General Russell Johnson's office. The seizure was the largest
meth haul in Loudon County history.
Medina-Vera, Camden, N.J., was charged with
manufacture, sell, delivery or resale of a Schedule II substance
and held on $500,000 bond.
Couple charged again
Two Loudon residents are facing charges against
animals after Loudon Police officers and 9th Judicial Drug Task
Force agents served a warrant on Collins Street.
Jerimiah James Sears, 33, and Lori Leann Sears,
33, were initially arrested March 22 on drug charges.
The search warrant included all video and audio
recording devices and anything capable of storing recorded
media. While in a bedroom, Loudon Police Sgt. Scott Newman
located a Sony Handycam video recorder. Officers found on the
camera a video of Lori Sears knowingly engaging in sexual
activity with a medium-sized dog.
Lori Sears appears to be a willing participant
in this activity, the report says. The video was about three
minutes in length and was time and dated at 3/17/2018. It
appears that Mr. Sears is making the video. Both Lori and
Jerimiah James Sears can be identified in this video by their
tattoos.
Both claimed the dog in the video was a stray.
Lori Sears was charged with criminal offenses
against animals and was held on $5,000 bond.

Garcia, then came to a complete stop in front of the Lenoir City
