Man attempts robbery, wrecks
trying to flee A Knoxville man is facing multiple charges after he attempted Friday to rob a Broadway Street laundromat and later wrecked on Highway 11. Dennis Wayne Ross, 42, entered the laundromat wearing a white cloth over his head with two eye holes and carrying a BB gun. Ross pointed the BB gun at an employee near a counter, who thought the gun was a “deadly weapon,” according to the report.
The employee then pulled out a
revolver and pointed it at Ross,
who fled through the back door.
“(The employee) followed him
outside and fired one shot into
the air to scare the defendant
away,” Lenoir City Police Inv.
Brad Brown wrote. Ross fled the
scene in a silver Mitsubishi
Eclipse.
A short time later, Sgt. Eddie
Range identified the vehicle and
activated his emergency
equipment. The report notes Ross
drove speeds up to 119 miles per
hour in a 30 mph zone, passing
Loudon County Sheriff’s Office
vehicles on West Broadway. Ross
wrecked on Highway 11 at Browder
School Road and was taken into
custody.
Ross was treated for minor
injuries and taken to Loudon
County Jail after questioning
from Lenoir City Police
investigators.
Ross was charged with aggravated
assault, evading arrest and
attempted aggravated robbery and
held on $210,000 bond.
Locals hit in drug sting
Residents of Philadelphia,
Loudon and Greenback are facing
charges after the Ninth Judicial
District Drug Task Force and
officers from Loudon County
Sheriff’s Office conducted a
narcotics search Oct. 24 in
Philadelphia.
Law enforcement executed a
search warrant in the 190 block
of Donelson Road. The drug task
force had been working on a
narcotics investigation for
“some time and gathered reliable
information that illegal drug
activity” took place in a
residence there, Agent April
Farmer wrote in her report.
After searching a residence,
officers found Cody Bryant
Stovall, 23, Loudon, on a
mattress in the bedroom.
“A search of the area where Mr.
Stovall was found produced
several open syringes under the
mattress, a blunt containing
what agents believe to be
marijuana and a plastic bag
containing several white pills
that were tentatively identified
as Suboxone, a (Schedule) III
narcotic,” Farmer wrote.
Further search led officers to
Justice David Choate, 19,
Philadelphia, who said he lived
at the residence. A search of
the room found “several roaches”
with what was believed to be
marijuana in an ashtray and a
glass bong beside the bed.
Officers also found a metal
grinder on the television stand.
Stovall was charged with was
charged with possession of drug
paraphernalia, simple
possession/casual exchange and
manufacture, sell, delivery and
resale of a Schedule III
substance and released on $3,000
bond.
Choate was charged with simple
possession/casual exchange and
possession of drug paraphernalia
and released on $2,000 bond.
Others charged during the raid
at the residence included:
• Renita Dawn Stovall, 41,
Loudon, was charged with
possession of drug
paraphernalia, simple
possession/casual exchange and
maintaining a dwelling where
drugs were sold and released on
$9,500 bond.
• Jennifer Renea Clemmer, 59,
Philadelphia, was charged with
maintaining a dwelling where
drugs were sold and was released
on $7,500 bond.
• James Michael Hammontree, 39,
Greenback, was charged with
contempt of court and held on
$400 bond.
• Gary Neal Norman, 44,
Philadelphia, was charged with
possession of legend drugs and
possession of drug paraphernalia
and released on $2,000 bond.
Oct. 24
• Jimmy Lynn Arden, 28, Lenoir
City, was charged with domestic
assault and released on $2,000
bond.
• Collin Payce Bennet, 18,
Loudon, was charged with theft
of property and released on
$1,000 bond.
• James Dale Butler, 45,
Maryville, was charged with
theft under $500 and was held on
$1,000 bond.
• Travis Dewayne Garren, 39,
Loudon, was charged with a
Monroe County warrant, driving
on a revoked/suspended license,
driving under the influence,
implied consent and evading
arrest and held on $10,000 bond.
Seeing a black Nissan Altima
traveling on Watkins Road toward
Malone Road, LCSO Deputy Lance
Anderson recognized the driver,
identified as Garren, who had a
revoked driver’s license and a
Monroe County warrant. Anderson
saw the car made a “wide
sweeping turn” on Malone Road,
and initiated a traffic stop.
Anderson noted the vehicle
failed to stop at several safe
areas. “I activated my patrol
vehicle’s siren several times
and the vehicle continued
driving at a slow speed,”
Anderson wrote. The vehicle
stopped one mile from when the
traffic stop was initiated,
according to the report.
Anderson noted Garren had a
strong odor of an alcoholic
beverage coming from him. Garren
denied answering whether he had
been drinking.
• Whitney Amanda Lynn, 32,
Loudon, was charged with
aggravated burglary and theft of
property $1,000-$10,000 and held
on $15,000 bond.
• Lisa Michelle Stephens, 54,
Loudon, was charged with leaving
the scene of accident with
property damage, driving under
the influence and cite-in and
released on $2,000 bond.
Oct. 25
• Robert John Davis, 35,
Greenback, was charged with
aggravated assault and violation
of community corrections and
held without bond.
• Lisa Blackburn Hutchison, 44,
Cleveland, was charged with
driving on a revoked/suspended
license and driving under the
influence and released on $6,000
bond. Seeing a vehicle traveling
north on Interstate 75 near mile
marker 78, LCSO Deputy Christ
Hutchens noticed the vehicle
attempted to make a lane change,
riding in the middle of the lane
and turning in front of him
while trying to pass and almost
colliding with the rear of a
semi truck. Hutchens conducted a
traffic stop and talked with
Hutchison, when he noticed a
“strong odor of alcoholic
beverage.” Hutchens said the
woman had slurred speech and a
dazed look. “She also had three
containers of open alcohol in
her vehicle, with one being a
cup of whiskey and Sprite that
she had between her legs,”
Hutchens wrote.
• Austin Lunsford, 21,
Madisonvile, was charged with
theft under $500 and held
without bond.
• Richard Howard Martin, 40,
Maryville, was charged with
failure to appear-general
sessions and released on $1,000
bond.
• Jeffrey Alan Mathieu, 37,
Kingston, was charged with
contempt of court and held on
$1,557.07 bond.
• James Gary Norman, 40, Loudon,
was charged with violation of
probation and held on $1,000
bond.
• Dustin Tyler Stafford, 27,
Maryville, was charged with
driving on a revoked/suspended
license and released on $1,000
bond.
• Samantha Karie Stoneking, 27,
Maryville, was charged with two
counts of simple
possession/casual exchange and

• Willie A. Burris, 46, Loudon,
was charged with simple
possession and held without
bond.
• Kirt Edward Estep, 31, Lenoir
City, was charged with domestic
assault-misdemeanor and held on
$2,000 bond. Responding to a
call on the 100 block of Kelly
Lane, Lenoir City Police Officer
Keith Sennett talked with a
woman who said when Estep came
out of the shower and saw her in
his bedroom he became “very
angry.” “Estep then started
cussing her and shoved her hard
in the room,” Sennett wrote.
“This caused (the woman) to
crash into a shopping cart,
which was in the bedroom.”
Sennett noted the woman had
visible red marks on her arm.
While speaking with Estep, he
noted the woman was going
through his belongings,
according to the report.

Lenoir City, was charged with
driving on a revoked/suspended

bond.

Lenoir City, was charged with
two counts of failure to
appear-general sessions and

• Keith Wayne Robinson, 34,
Knoxville, was charged with

bond.
• Donald Brooks Wade, 23, Lenoir
City, was charged with domestic
assault-felony and held on
$5,000 bond. Dispatched to the
600 block of West 4th Avenue for
a domestic disturbance, Lenoir
City Police Officer Chris Morgan
talked with witnesses who said
Wade had been fighting with a
woman since noon that day. The
witnesses saw Wade drag the
woman by her wrist in an attempt
to remove her from the
residence. Witnesses said Wade
and the woman left the residence
in a black Toyota pickup to go
to the emergency room. After
talking with Wade and the woman,
Morgan noted their statements
contradicted. Morgan also saw
swelling on the woman’s left
wrist and right cheek, according
to the report. Medical staff
said the woman’s wrist was
broken.
