News Herald Arrest Report
Man attempts escape following
arrest
A Lenoir City man
briefly escaped law enforcement April 19 while being
transported from a hospital to jail.
Brandon Thomas Deaton,
33, sustained several injuries when he evaded police April
18 during a high-speed chase. Because of the injuries,
Deaton was taken by Loudon County Sheriffs Office deputies
to Tennova Hospital in Turkey Creek for treatment before he
could be transported to jail.
As he was being
brought the following day in a wheelchair to a LCSO
transport, Deaton jumped out of the chair and fled on foot
through the woods. He was apprehended roughly 30 minutes
later on Kingston Pike by a Knox County deputy and
transferred back into the custody of LCSO.
Deaton was
originally arrested April 18 after LCSO Deputy Dalton
Harrison noticed Deaton on the highway in a vehicle
bearing the wrong registration plate. Harrison initiated
a traffic stop. Deaton came to a stop for a few seconds
but then accelerated away.
Harrison followed
Deaton as he accelerated to a high rate of speed, passed
vehicles in the opposite lane of travel, drove
erratically and at one point caused damage by driving
through a private yard. The chase ended when Deaton
attempted to run off the road, which resulted in a
rollover crash.
Loudon County Fire
and EMS arrived to help extract Deaton from his vehicle,
and he was subsequently transported to the hospital. A
search of his vehicle yielded more than 50 grams of
methamphetamine, .4 grams of heroin and 2 grams of
fentanyl. Cut straws, a scale and empty clear baggies
were also found.
After running
Deatons information through dispatch, Harrison learned
Deatons license was suspended and he had a capias order
out of Loudon County General Sessions Court and had
violated probation. As he was transported to the
hospital, he stated he had used meth approximately 20
minutes ago, refused Tennessee Implied Consent and
stated multiple times, I was probably high and Im
guilty, according to Harrisons report.
Deaton was charged
with capias-general sessions, driving on a revoked
