Man arrested
for firearm possession in bar
A Clarkesville man was
charged with possession of a firearm while under the influence last
week at a restaurant in Lenoir City.
Responding to a call of an intoxicated person with a weapon at a location on Town Creek Road, Lenoir City Police Officer Tyrel Lorenz spoke with Michael Peyton Russell, 51, who had a "very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage," according to the arrest report.
"I asked Mr. Russell if he had a firearm on his person and he
stated he didn't know," Lorenz wrote. "When asked a second time,
he stated he did."
Lorenz recovered a Kahr PM40 semiautomatic pistol from Russell's
right pocket, according to the arrest report.
The manager at the restaurant told police that Russell had eight
Manhattan drinks in about four hours, Lorenz wrote.
Russell was also charged with public intoxication and released
on $4,500 bond.
Woman charged with felony evading
A Lenoir City woman was taken into custody after speeding by a
stopped Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper at more than 90 miles
per hour over the weekend on Interstate 75 in Monroe County.
Clocking a 1999 Chevy Malibu going 94 mph in a 70 mph zone,
Trooper James Dalton followed the driver, Amanda Ruth Ward, 24,
Lenoir City, as she entered Loudon County, according to the
arrest report.
As the vehicle came closer to nearby traffic, Ward began
changing lanes without signaling and pulling onto the right
shoulder of the road along the interstate, according to the
arrest report.
Police stopped the vehicle, and during a search of the car found
aluminum foil in the center console, Dalton wrote. Inside the
foil was a clear bag and a folded piece of paper containing a
white crystal substance that field tested for methamphetamine.
Ward was charged with felony evading, driving on a
revoked/suspended license and simple possession of a Schedule II
substance and released on $14,000 bond.

Megan Leigh Allen, 32, Raymond, Miss., was charged with theft
of property and held without bond.
Paul Joseph Oppergard, 44, Knoxville, was charged with
domestic assault and released on $3,000 bond.
Feb. 17
Whitney Shea Charles, 35, Loudon, was charged with public
intoxication and released on $2,000 bond.
Daniel Chase Hardin, 18, Loudon, was charged with failure to
appear-general sessions and held on $1,000 bond.
Krista Lynn Morris, 45, Knoxville, was charged with driving
under the influence and held on $6,500 bond.
Joel Wayne Patterson, 43, Loudon, was charged with failure to
appear-general sessions and released on $20,000 bond.
Curtis Adam Summey, 28, Vonore, was charged with failure to
appear-general sessions and released on $2,000 bond.
Feb. 18
Evan Michael Ray, 29, Loudon, was charged with domestic
assault-misdemeanor and held without bond.
Samantha Jean Wright, 39, Philadelphia, was charged with
failure to appear-general sessions and held without bond.
Patrick Michael Brewer, 35, Lenoir City, was charged with
contempt of court and failure to appear and released on $1,150
bond.
Tommy Keener, 76, Lenoir City, was charged with public
intoxication and released on $1,000 bond.
Michael Eugene Pack, 36, Loudon, was charged with violation of
probation, misdemeanor evading and driving on a
revoked/suspended license and released on $5,000 bond.
Evan Michael Ray, 29, Loudon, was charged with domestic
assault-misdemeanor and released on $1,000 bond.
Samantha Jean Wright, 39, Philadelphia, was charged with
failure to appear-general sessions and released on $2,000 bond.
Feb. 19
Codee Lee Edmonds, 30, Lenoir City, was charged with cash bond
and failure to appear-general sessions and held on $20,500 bond.
Regina Dawn Ellison, 32, Rockwood, was charged with violation
of probation and held on $2,000 bond.
Michael Loranze Garber, 41, Moshiem, was charged with driving
under the influence and released without bond.
Joshua Eldon Giles, 29, Loudon, was charged with domestic
assault-felony, aggravated burglary, vandalism, theft under $500
and simple possession/casual exchange and held without bond.
Responding to a hang-up call in the 1500 block of Prospect Road,
Loudon County Sheriff's Office Deputy Jamie Ketner spoke with
Giles and a woman and learned that Giles had active warrants out
of Loudon County involving vandalism, domestic violence, assault
felony, aggravated burglary and theft of property, according to
the arrest report. After taking Giles into custody, police found
three yellow pills believed to be clonazepam on him at Loudon
County Jail, Ketner wrote in the report. Giles did not have a
prescription for the medication, according to the report.
Keith Allen Havens, 43, Lenoir City, was charged with fugitive
from justice and held without bond.
Douglas Marion Morrissey, 30, Knoxville, was charged with
criminal impersonation, public intoxication and disorderly
conduct and held on $6,000 bond.
Kourtney Leshay Morrissey, 28, Knoxville, was charged with
public intoxication and released on $4,000 bond.
Natalisha Coray Sona, 20, Philadelphia, was charged with theft
under $500 and released on $2,000 bond.
Carmen Jeane Stegall, 24, Loudon, was charged with driving on
a revoked/suspended license and released on $2,000 bond.
Kenneth Wayne Templeton, 49, Harriman, was charged with theft
over $500 and held on $10,000 bond.
April Michelle Wakeman, 35, Cleveland, was charged with
failure to appear and released on $2,000 bond.
Feb. 20
James Anthony Drake, 46, Lenoir City, was charged with driving
on a revoked/suspended license and failure to appear-general
sessions and held on $2,000 bond.
Dylan Curtis Ferguson, 22, Lenoir City, was charged with
aggravated burglary and driving on a revoked/suspended license
and held on $22,000 bond. Responding to a call of theft in the
200 block of Kelly Lane, police spoke with Ferguson, who said he
was removing some of his items from his sister's home, according
to the arrest report. Ferguson's sister had not lived at the
residence for about a month, according to the report. A woman
told police that all the items taken from the home belonged to
her, and all of the items were recovered from Ferguson's
vehicle, according to police.
Shantell Marte Gasche, 27, Knoxville, was charged with public
intoxication and disorderly conduct and released on $4,000 bond.
Responding to a traffic stop along U.S. Highway 321, Lenoir City
Police Officer Bruce Padgett assisted Office Jason Arden with a
field sobriety test, and during the test, the passenger, Gasche,
exited the car and "began to be very unruly, and would not
listen to (the) officer's orders," according to the arrest
report. Gasche then went to the rear of the vehicle, stumbled
and almost fell onto the road, Padgett wrote, noting that she
attempted to pull away from police when she was detained.
Barbra Lynn Headrick, 48, Louisville, was charged with driving
under the influence and violation of implied consent and
released on $4,000 bond.
Jonah Ryan Jillson, 29, Lenoir City, was charged with burglary
and theft of property and held on $30,000 bond.
Andrew Tyler Jones, 18, Kingston, was charged with theft under
$500 and released on $2,000 bond. Dispatched to a call of a
shoplifter at a retail store in Lenoir City, police spoke with a
loss prevention employee, who said Jones concealed multiple
items after entering the store and left without paying,
according to the arrest report. The items were valued at $55.94.
James Isacc Lawson, 48, Loudon, was charged with driving on a
revoked/suspended license and held on $2,000 bond.
Linda Darlene Reeder, 44, Louisville, was charged with driving
on a revoked/suspended license and released on $1,000 bond.
Maricia Alamae Scroggs, 45, Lenoir City, was charged with
assault-misdemeanor and held on $1,000 bond. Dispatched to a
call of a domestic disturbance in the 2200 block of White Wing
Road, LCSO Deputy J.C. Schultz spoke with Scroggs, who said she
had an argument with her ex-girlfriend, according to the arrest
report. Scroggs had mud on her feet and knees, and the bottom of
her pants were wet, Schultz wrote, noting that the ground in
front of the residence showed signs of a scuffle, according to
the report. Locating the other woman at a gas station, police
learned that Scroggs attacked her "so she had to put Ms. Scroggs
on the ground to avoid being injured and that she was afraid Ms.
Scroggs would hurt herself or another," Schultz wrote. During an
interview with the woman, Scroggs pulled into the gas station
and refused to exit the car when stopped, according to the
report. She was removed from the vehicle and placed under
arrest.
Latrice Yvette Thaxton, 34, Sweetwater, was charged with
driving on a revoked/suspended license and released on $2,000
bond.
Robert Temple Vann, 45, Athens, was charged with failure to
appear-general sessions and released on $2,000 bond.
Zachary Preston Young, 28, Maryville, was charged with driving
on a revoked/suspended license and violation of implied consent
and released on $4,000 bond.
Feb. 21
Sarah Dorine Coker, 57, Philadelphia, was charged with illegal
possession/fraudulent use of a credit card and released on
$1,000 bond.
Allen Dewayne Hall, 47, Lenoir City, was charged with domestic
assault-misdemeanor and released on $1,000 bond. Dispatched to a
call of a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of Moats Drive,
Lenoir City Police Officer Christian Dragon spoke with a woman,
who said she and Hall had gotten into an argument about her
ex-boyfriend and a pet dog, according to the arrest report.
"(The woman) stated that she tried to leave the residence but
(Hall) wouldn't let her leave," Dragon wrote. "Mr. Hall grabbed
(the woman's) hair and pulled her down to the floor. (The woman)
bit (Hall's) forearm to try to escape from him, but Mr. Hall
grabbed (the woman) by the neck leaving visible marks on (her)
neck." Hall was identified as the primary aggressor.
Samuel Bryan Knox, 30, homeless, was charged with driving
while intoxicated, driving on a revoked/suspended license,
leaving the scene of an accident/property damage and violation
of implied consent and held on $9,000 bond. Responding to a call
of a wreck in the 1200 block of Spring Street, a Tennessee
Highway Patrol trooper arrived on the scene to find that a
vehicle had hit a tree stump, ran a stop sign and went into the
air before hitting a deck at a residence, according to the
arrest report. Deputies found the driver, Knox, at a nearby
home. Knox displayed signs of intoxication during a police
interview, and he refused to perform field sobriety tests or
implied consent, according to the report.
Whitney Amanda Lynn, 31, Loudon, was charged with forgery out
of Knox County and failure to appear and held on $30,000 bond.
Michael Lynn Thompson, 27, Knoxville, was charged with driving
on a revoked/suspended license and leaving the scene of an
accident and released on $4,000 bond. Responding to a call of a
hit and run crash at mile marker 68 on Interstate 75 North,
Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Rodney Best spoke with a man,
who said Thompson had hit him in the rear of his vehicle,
according to the arrest report. The man told police that he was
going to his car to get his paperwork when Thompson got into his
car and left the scene, Best wrote. "Mr. Thompson stated that he
looked at the vehicles and stated he didn't need a report, so he
left," according to Best.
Feb. 22
Justin C. Bellamy, 22, Sweetwater, was charged with
manufacture/sell/delivery/resale of a Schedule II substance,
contraband in a penal institution and public intoxication and
held on $42,000 bond.
Kevin Louis Bryant, 54, Rome, Ga., was charged with
manufacture/sell/delivery/resale of a Schedule VI substance and
held on $20,000 bond.
William Neil Owens, 49, Ponte Vedra, Fla., was charged with
violation of probation and held without bond.
Sterling Kelsey Steinhardt, 23, Vonore, was charged with
driving under the influence and released on $2,500 bond.
Responding to a call of a wreck with no injuries at Highway 72
and Matlock Bend Road, LCSO Deputy Ben Everett found the driver,
Steinhardt, who was walking along the road near the location
where his vehicle had flipped into a creek bed, according to the
arrest report. Steinhardt displayed signs of intoxication,
Everett wrote. "When I asked Mr. Steinhardt how much he had to
drink, he stated 'too much'," Everett wrote in the report. The
man performed poorly on field sobriety tests, according to the
report.
Mary M. Thornhill, 30, Knoxville, was charged with contempt of
court and held on $150 bond.
THP nabs 4
for meth distribution
Two men from West Virginia and two from Georgia were arrested on
charges of methamphetamine distribution during a recent traffic stop
along Interstate 75 in Loudon County.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Isaiah Lloyd stopped a 2015 Ford Edge and noticed that the driver, Michael S. Neuman, 41, Tucker, Ga., was acting suspiciously, according to a THP press release. When Neuman was told to show his hands, Lloyd saw a plastic bag containing what was believed to be methamphetamine in plain sight, according to the report.
After arresting Neuman, troopers found three plastic bags
containing meth, along with $2,925 in cash. Drugs recovered from
the vehicle weighed about 11.14 ounces, according to the
release.
Nueman later indicated he was traveling from Atlanta, Ga., and
was delivering the drugs to a hotel in Knoxville where
additional suspects from West Virginia and Georgia were
staying, according to the release.
Police also searched two hotel rooms as part of the
investigation and arrested three other individuals, including
William R. Jones, 50, Hansford, W.Va., William K. Dodrill, 35,
Birch River, W.Va., and Steven M. Hicks, 43, of Georgia, in
connection with the case.
THP recovered a total of $9,328 in drug currency during the
investigation.
