Loudon PILOT
At tonight's Loudon City council meeting, council
will consider a 5 year PILOT, tax break, for Viscase. The proposed PILOT
was presented by Loudon County Economic Development director, Jack
Qualls. According to Qualls, Viscase is planning a 25 million dollar
improvement to the facilities.
Earlier this year, the Loudon council passed a 9 cent property tax increase to provide for general operating revenue. Now they're being asked to basically provide big tax breaks for a billion dollar company on the backs of the rest of Loudon City and Loudon County property owners. The tax give away not only effects the city, they are also giving away county property tax dollars and the county has no say in the matter. EDA director, Jack Qualls, would gladly give away all of the city and county property taxes if he could. What's he care, he doesn't even live in the city or the county. Every time the city of Loudon or Lenoir City pass out these massive tax breaks, the loss has to be made up by all the other tax payers. It's basically cooperate welfare. |
