Loudon Manager Search 10
Monday's Loudon Council and LUB joint meeting
resulted on no change in the decision to pick a new manager. Once again,
Loudon City mayor, Jeff Harris decided to set out the meeting choosing
rather to a spectator rather than the mayor. Councilman, Eric Newman, called on mayor Harris to either take his elected seat at the meeting to vote for himself, as the new manager and break the tie, or to resign as mayor and seek the manager position. Harris did neither, rather, he attacked Newman because he had supposedly recently applied for a job with LUB. Newman reminded Harris that with all the controversy, he (Newman) requested his name be removed from the LUB job. Harris also stated that he didn't feel he was elected to lead the council in selection a new manager. Harris, claimed that he just wanted to do more for Loudon than he can as the mayor. The interpretation seems to be, if he made a lot more money, he could do more for Loudon. It's unfortunate that mayor Harris is determined to disrupt the city as much as he can all in the name of a new title and a big salary. Kind of makes one wonder. As the elected mayor, Harris has decided not to perform his job on this one because it's tough. If he's the city manager, will he continue to sit out the tough decisions? Below is a link to the meeting video. Thanks to Mitchell Miller for recording and posting. |
