Loudon man faces multiple charges including resisting arrest

A Loudon man is facing a list of charges after law enforcement was called in following a domestic disagreement.

On Wednesday, December 4, at approximately 1:02 a.m., Patrolman Will Jenkins with the Loudon Police Department was dispatched to a Cedar Street address in reference to a physical domestic dispute.

When Jenkins arrived on the scene, Patrolman L. Hawkins reportedly was speaking with a female victim on the sidewalk in front of the residence. The victim told Patrolman Hawkins that her boyfriend — 43-yearold Aaron Fitzgerald of Loudon — was inside the residence.

According to the report, the victim also told Hawkins that the offender had assaulted her during the course of an argument by pulling her hair. Cpl. B. Everett stood by with the victim, while Jenkins and Hawkins entered the residence to make contact with Fitzgerald.

The two found Fitzgerald laying on a bed in the back bedroom of the residence. He was reportedly lying in the fetal position clutching a bottle of liquor in his arms.

Jenkins then asked Fitzgerald what had transpired between himself and the victim.

Fitzgerald reportedly said that he pulled the victim’s hair because she “would not listen to him.” Jenkins and Hawkins then gave the offender “a lawful order” to put his hands behind his back so they could take him into custody.

The offender then reportedly refused to comply with commands and tensed up when Patrolman Hawkins attempted to place the offender’s hands behind his back.

Jenkins, along with Hawkins, overcame the offender’s resistance, however — placing him in handcuffs before escorting the suspect to Jenkin’s patrol car and placing him in the back seat.

Jenkins then made contact with the victim and asked her what had transpired between her and the offender.

According to the report obtained by The News-Herald, the victim told Jenkins that they were arguing over her ex-husband because the offender is “infatuated” with her ex-husband.

The victim told officers that when she would ignore the offender he would snatch her up by her hair.

The victim refused to provide a written statement and also refused to participate in filling out a domestic LAP form, according to reports.

Jenkins then transported the offender to the Loudon County Jail.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Fitzgerald had a Maryville address on his license; but he informed Col. Goins of the Loudon County Sheriff ’s Office that he has been living in Loudon for two years.

Fitzgerald was officially charged with address change required, domestic assault and resisting arrest and was held on $3,000 bond.
