Loudon man faces list of drug charges

A Loudon suspect faces multiple drug charges after a body search reportedly revealed several illegal substances on his person.

On Monday, Oct. 7, at 6:57 p.m., Deputy Kenny Palmer was dispatched to Norwood Street for an unwanted guest. Upon his arrival, Palmer spoke with the complainant, who informed the deputy that her child’s father — identified in reports as 32-year-old Claiborne James Jodie White of Loudon — was at the residence and was found passed out between the cars in the driveway.

According to the report, the complainant had asked White to leave and showed Palmer a picture of White in the driveway and mentioned that he had walked toward the Icon Superstore. Palmer located White at a nearby gas station and noticed that he seemed to be under the influence. When asked, White admitted to smoking Delta 10 and marijuana.

Upon searching him, Palmer found approximately 1.3 grams of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, a glass pipe typically used for smoking meth, half a peach-colored round pill with a partial imprint later identified as Buprenorphine hydrochloride, and naloxone hydrochloride 8 mg base 2mg base (a Schedule 3 narcotic), and a white oblong pill with a partial imprint of 65 later identified as Acetaminophen and hydrocodone bitartrate 325 mg/5 mg (a Schedule 2 narcotic).

Additionally, Palmer found a marijuana pipe in White’s backpack.

White was placed under arrest and put in the back of Palmer’s patrol car. While White was in Palmer’s patrol vehicle, he observed White moving around and at one point, White appeared to be trying to retrieve something from his crotch area with his hands cuffed behind his back.

Palmer then removed White from the vehicle and searched White’s hands and the back of his patrol car before placing him back in the vehicle.

According to the report, Palmer advised White that he would be charged with introduction to a penal facility if he took anything illegal into the jail.

When they arrived at the jail, White was found in possession of a baggy and expressed concern about getting in trouble for having it. Palmer asked White where the baggy came from, at which time he observed White appeared to have ingested something. White would later admit to consuming cocaine to a corrections officer.

Upon reviewing the in-car video, Palmer witnessed White ingesting a baggy containing suspected illegal narcotics.

Palmer returned to the jail to speak with White and as he was being removed from the holding cell, correction officers noticed a baggy containing 2.74 grams of a white crystal substance later identified as methamphetamine.

White was read his Miranda rights and, when questioned, stated to Palmer he consumed mushrooms while in his patrol vehicle. A body scan at the jail revealed the presence of what appeared to be a foreign object in White’s stomach.

White was charged with contraband in a penal institution, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of simple possession/ casual exchange, tampering/fabricating with evidence and was released on $35,000 bond.
