Loudon man dies in Maryville accident
Cox pulled in front of Townson's vehicle and a
collision occurred, according to a crash report. The impact of the
collision pushed Townson's car into a red 2000 Chevrolet Silverado
driven by Jordan Troutman, 66, of Franklin, N.C.; the Silverado was
stopped at the traffic light on Calderwood Highway, Crisp said.
Cox was driving a black 2001 Ford van owned by the
University of Tennessee with seven passengers.
All the drivers were wearing seat belts, and other
than Troutman no one else was reported injured in the accident,
Crisp said. Troutman and Townson were the sole occupants of their
respective vehicles.
Townson's body was trapped in his vehicle and had
to be extricated by firefighters, authorities said.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing,
Crisp said. No drugs or alcohol are suspected, but blood tests
are pending, according to the crash report.
No citations were issued.
