News Herald Arrest Report
Loudon man charged with child
abuse
A
Loudon man was arrested on child abuse charges Jan. 25 after
repeatedly striking an 8-year-old with a belt.
Loudon County Sheriffs Office Deputy and School Resource Officer Mike Williams reported a child went to the office of his elementary school to complain about back pain. Upon evaluation by the school nurse, he was found to have abrasions and bruising on multiple areas of his body, including the lower back, upper back, left shoulder and near the neck. An investigator with the Tennessee Department of Childrens Services conducted a minimal facts interview with the child at the school, where the boy said Yoshawn Anthony Rollins II, 33, had whipped him with a belt the previous day because of bad grades.
Rollins was later
interviewed at the home and admitted to the act, though
he claimed he was only whipping the buttock area. When
described and shown photographs of the childs injuries,
Rollins said he cant control where the belt goes,
according to a report from LCSO Sgt. Det. Rondel Branam.
Rollins was charged with child abuse or neglect/endangerment and released on $10,000 bond. Jan. 23
