Loudon man apprehended after ‘hit-and-run’ … DUI to blame A Loudon man was quickly apprehended and is now facing various charges following a hit-and-run case that occurred in Loudon County. On Thursday, May 16, around 2:49 p.m., Deputy Charles Huskin with the Loudon County Sheriff ’s Office was dispatched to Highway 444 and Amohi Way for a reported hit-and-run … at which time dispatch advised authorities that the suspect vehicle fled the scene and crashed into a ditch around Ritchey Road and Irene Lane. Huskin arrived on the scene and observed a blue Ford F-150 in the ditch leaning over on the driver side with a white male identified as 75-year-old Jerry Dean Kile slumped over with the keys in the ignition. HOW MUCH ALCOHOL? SUSPECT SAYS ‘A LOT’ The deputy reportedly attempted to open the driver-side door to make contact with the suspect and revive him to see if he was okay. Kile reportedly did wake up and affirmed that he was all right. According to the LCSO report, Huskin asked the suspect if he needed medical treatment to which he stated “no.” He then advised Kile to start crawling out of the vehicle from the passenger side of his vehicle and the suspect complied. Once he was out of the vehicle, Huskin detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person as he spoke to him. The report indicated that Kile was very unsteady on his feet as he was on the road walking toward the deputy’s patrol vehicle. According to the report, Huskin asked Kile how much alcohol he had to drink and the suspect replied: “A lot.” The deputy asked the suspect if he would perform the Tennessee Standardized Field Sobriety Test and the suspect said: “No.” Corporal Hawkins then arrived on scene and advised the suspect of his Miranda rights, which the suspect said he understood. Hawkins asked Kile if he intentionally struck the victim with his vehicle and the suspect reportedly denied he had struck any vehicle. Based on Huskin’s observations of Kile, he placed him in custody and advised him he was under arrest for DUI. The suspect reportedly agreed to a blood test, but when Huskin took Kile to the Fort Loudoun Medical Emergency Room for a blood draw … he again refused. Huskin ultimately escorted Kile to the Loudon County Jail on charges of DUI, violation of implied consent, and leaving the scene of an accident. Reports state that Kile was charged with aggravated assault, driving under the influence and leaving the scene of property that was damaged. He was released without bond. MAY 13 .
