Loudon Fire Department warns
of scam funeral page for former police chief James ‘Bear’ Webb
LOUDON, Tenn. (WATE) — The Loudon Fire Department is warning of a scam Facebook profile claiming to have a live stream of retired Loudon Chief of Police James ‘Bear’ Webb’s funeral services.
The fire department shared
a photo of the profile on Facebook Friday afternoon on behalf of
Webb’s family.
“This is a scam asking for credit card info and the family has nothing to do with it,” the department said.
The profile is
named “James Bear Webb Funeral Service” and includes a
link promising a “Free live Stream” in its bio. Posts on
the page also include a link to “sign up.”
Webb died ‘unexpectedly’ on Tuesday, July 30. He was recently elected as a Councilman to the Loudon City Council, according to the Loudon Police Department. Previously, the Loudon Police shared that it would be doing a “last ride” for Webb on Friday, August 2 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Blairland Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 5 p.m. |
