Loudon couple fights over dead kitten
A Loudon couple is facing domestic assault charges
after law enforcement arrived Monday and learned the two fought over
a dead kitten.
Responding to a disturbance on Spring Street, Loudon
County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Thomas Spradlin found Bethany Sims
“crying hysterically.” Bethany and husband Jarred Sims got into an
argument over him accidentally killing her kitten, she said. Both
agreed the argument never got physical, and both were intoxicated.
After determining they had no place to go for the
night and that there was no fear of physical harm, Spradlin left the
residence. A few hours later Spradlin was called back.
“Mr. Sims stated this time the argument turned
into a physical altercation, but he did not know when he got
hit,” Spradlin wrote in the report. “I did observe several
scratch marks on his neck, arms and on his upper back. I asked
Mr. Sims if his wife caused him physical harm and he stated no.
Mr. Sims stated further that it was all his fault.”
Another deputy saw Bethany Sims walking down the
road and transported her back to the scene. Bethany said she
started the altercation and that she didn’t want Jarred to go to
jail. She did have a swollen upper lip. Both parties were
arrested after they said they initiated the argument and a
primary aggressor could not be determined.
Bethany Marie Sims, 24, and Jarred Philp Sims,
25, Loudon, were each charged with domestic assault-misdemeanor
and released on $1,000 bond.
