The Loudon County Criminal Investigations Division is asking residents of Loudon County to be aware of a check scam scheme that is targeting some via mail.

Residents in the Tellico Village area reported receiving checks, like the one pictured below, that are made out to the recipients name in the amount of several thousands of dollars. These checks come with instructions to deposit the check and then mail the company a certain amount of money as a fee.

If you see a check like this, please do not attempt to cash it. Simply shred it, dispose of it and avoid falling victim to scammers.
