Loudon Annexation 11
In spite of massive, overwhelming opposition, looks
like Loudon officials are stomping right on through the opposition to
annex a large parcel of land on Dry Valley Road for the benefit of a
Knoxville developer. To heck with the residents who live there or the
county's opposition, apparently, mayor Jeff Harris and a couple of
councilmen are full speed ahead.
This annexation and rezone first came to the Loudon Planning Commission back in October 2023. Ultimately, the planning commission denied the request. The 176 acre parcel has been being batted around ever since then. According to Harris, the developer is now going to ask that after annexation, the property be rezoned R-2 which would allow 5.8 units per acre and also, multi-family apartments. On 176 acres that could allow up to 1,020 homes and far more apartments. The previous request was to rezone the property to M-1 Industrial. This all begs the question, why are Loudon officials so determined to shove this annexation down everyone's throats? What's their benefit? Why do they care so much more about an out of town developer than they do the citizens who have to live with their insane decisions? Even though the Loudon Planning Commission has already turned down the developer's request in the past, they will hear the matter this Wednesday, 4/3, at City Hall. Hopefully, they will turn him down again. Folks in Loudon should really take a close look at the people they elect. |
