This comes from the October 31, 1948 News Sentinel. The Loudon headline is only topped by the Truman, Dewey presidential election coming in two days.

I won't spoil the story other than saying I love the one quote from the sheriff.  

"The mob was yellow and didn't have guts enough to come down and swap lead with me."

I will really have to do more research on this one.
