Local man pulls knife during argument

A Lenoir City man is facing an aggravated assault charge after law enforcement responded to a domestic disturbance Saturday off Highway 11.

Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Thomas Spradlin and Chris Hutchens met a victim who claimed Jason Derrick Mills, 37, who lived with him, pulled a knife during an argument.

Spradlin asked Mills what happened, and he claimed he didn’t know. Mills had an odor of an alcoholic beverage, and after a pat down Spradlin found a black swinging knife.

Deputies viewed a recording made by a witness that showed the two arguing.

“The victim was walking into the house and the offender was behind him carrying a black open-blade knife,” Spradlin wrote in a report. “... Once inside the living room the victim realized that the offender had an open knife displayed, the victim then stated, ‘He has a knife, call 911.’ The offender then closed the knife.”

After speaking with the victim, law enforcement learned the argument began over Mills unplugging the victim’s camper.

Mills was charged with aggravated assault and released on $15,000 bond.
