Local man facing domestic assault charges

A Lenoir City man is facing domestic assault charges after law enforcement was sent Thursday to a Cress Lane residence.

Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy B.J. Lewis talked with a man who said Johnathan Eugene Joiner, 59, showed up where the man worked and told him to get his wife, children and mother out of Joiner's house. After the man went to the house to pack, Joiner showed up and began yelling.

“(The man) stated that while they were arguing, Mr. Joiner pulled out a knife and stated he would kill him,” Lewis wrote in his report. “(The man) stated that he then picked up a vase and put it between himself and Mr. Joiner to protect himself. (The man) stated that his mother ... then got between them at which time he threatened to kill her.”

The man’s mother then pushed Joiner, causing him to fall down, according to the report. Joiner went outside, still yelling. The man went outside to tell Joiner they planned to pack, and Joiner reportedly again pulled out a knife and threatened the man's life.

Joiner was later found by law enforcement and taken into custody.

Joiner was charged with two counts of domestic assault-felony and held on $15,000 bond.
