News Herald Arrest Report
Local man faces sexual battery charge
A Lenoir City man is facing a sexual battery charge
after inappropriately touching a woman multiple times at a local
retail store.
Lenoir City Police Inv. Brad Brown notes in his
report that Nathan Thomas Shelton, 38, was in the pantyhose section
when he walked behind a woman and touched her buttocks with his
hand. He walked behind her a second time and ran four fingers down
the center of her buttocks.
“The victim turned and ‘glared her eyes’ at Shelton
as he approached her a third time,” Brown wrote in his report.
“Shelton then fled the area. (The retail store) video was collected
and aides in corroborating the victim’s report. Shelton did have
sexual contact with the victim without the consent of the victim.”
Shelton did not know the woman, according to the
report.
Shelton was charged with sexual battery and held
on $10,000 bond.
Man resists arrest
Alerted of a man bleeding who had left an East
Broadway gas station quickly after he saw law enforcement,
Loudon County Sheriff's Office Deputy JC Schultz talked with
Chaison R. Chambers, 22.
Schultz noted in his report that Chambers smelled
“strongly” of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes as he exited his
vehicle. Chamber was bleeding from his head and right arm and
had a “large quantity” of blood on his clothes.
“Mr. Chambers stated he was bleeding because ‘he
had a bonfire’,” Schultz wrote in his report. “When this deputy
asked Mr. Chambers to identify himself he took off running,
disregarding this deputy’s commands to stop.”
Chambers was placed under arrest but refused to
put his arms behind his back. After being put inside the
vehicle, Chambers slipped off his cuffs and started kicking the
cruiser door. “In route to the jail, Mr. Chambers continued to
bang his head on my cruiser partion, threatened to kill this
deputy’s family ‘because he has a gun’ and spit on me multiple
times between the partition and the cruiser door.”
Chambers was charged on a Knox County warrant,
public intoxication, resisting arrest, misdemeanor fleeing and
aggravated assault and held on $16,000 bond.
