News Herald Arrest Report
Local man arrested for attempted burglary
A Lenoir City man has been arrested after law
enforcement found him attempting to burglarize a local store.
Responding to the call of a burglary in progress at a
convenience store on Highway 11, Loudon County Sheriffs Office Sgt.
Michael Watkins saw a front door with a cinder block thrown through
the window and vehicle keys in the front door glass.
After finding the vehicle the keys belonged to up the
street, Watkins deployed his K9 Kane for an area search.
Kane began picking up the scent of a human and
took Officer Jordan Samuels and myself into a large drainage
ditch, Watkins wrote in the report. At this time I could tell
we were close to the suspect, so I stopped and gave another
announcement to come out or the K9 would bite them. There was no
response so I continued on for approximately another 100 feet
until Kane located the subject behind a tree and apprehended
him.
Michael Otis Slone, 49, began thrashing with
Kane and was told to put his hands behind his back. Kane was
called off, and Slone was taken into custody without incident,
according to the report.
Slone was charged with evading arrest and
burglary and held on $12,000 bond.
