News Herald Arrest Report
Local high-speed chase ends AMBER Alert
An AMBER Alert that originated in Georgia was called
off late June 6 after a Loudon County Sheriffs Office deputy
responded to a call of a reckless driver traveling northbound on
Interstate 75 in a blue Subaru with dark-tinted windows.
Dispatch told LCSO Deputy Teddy Scarbrough the
vehicle was passing the Highway 72 exit with no visible
registration. The Subaru matched an AMBER Alert description for
Skylee M. Morgan, 14. After getting behind the vehicle and
initiating emergency equipment, a chase ensued with speeds reaching
120 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone.
The blue Subaru went I-40 East and got off at Watt
Road, Scarbrough wrote in his report. Ran the red light at Watt
Road and the exit ramp, turned left, went across the interstate and
got back on I-40 westbound. Chief Jimmy Davis took over the pursuit
at that point.
Heading west on I-40, the Subaru suddenly headed
toward Nashville.
Pursuit exited 360 ramp and turned left over the
interstate on Buttermilk Road West, Scarbrough wrote. Pursuit
continued on Buttermilk and was coming up to Industrial Park
Drive when the blue Subaru turned right onto a dirt road. We
went up hill to a grassy area where it continued to attempt to
get away.
After the vehicle stopped, Scarbrough and Davis
ordered the driver and a passenger out of the vehicle. Emily
Page Sherer, 21, Tempe, Ariz., and Arrow Jay Sims-Smith,
Rossville, Ga., exited the vehicle. Morgan was found safe in the
back seat of the vehicle.
Sherer and Sims-Smith were charged locally with
felony evading arrest and held without bond. The two also face
felony kidnapping charges out of Georgia, according to the LCSO.

Cpl. Chris Hutchens and talked to several people in the road.
Deputies determined Brandon Montreal Kimpson, 22,
Philadelphia, fled on foot somewhere in the area.
One of the victims, a (woman) stated she got up
to a loud noise at the door, and when she opened the door she
stated that a black male pushed her out of the way and ran into
the kitchen and opened the refrigerator door and grabbed some
milk, Everett wrote in his report. (The woman) stated she then
went and woke her husband up ... (and) stated Mr. Kimpson ran
out the front door.
A woman said around 5:35 a.m. she heard a loud
noise and scream at the front door. When she opened the door she
saw Kimpson, who entered the house yelling he needed to go to
the hospital.
