Lenoir City woman arrested for a

A Lenoir City woman was arrested June 6 after a child in her care ran away from home and came to the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office to report abuse.

LCSO Deputy Dalton Harrison was dispatched to a Lenoir City home after a child showed up and claimed to have been abused by his legal guardian, Shimikia Yolandia Bell, 44.

The child said Bell had given him and his siblings a test, and after he missed a question he was made to stand in a corner while holding a weight over his head. Whenever the boy would drop the weight or put his arms down, Bell would hit him three times with a belt.

Harrison noted in his arrest report that the boy had severe welts and lacerations on his back as well as lacerations and bruising on his buttocks.

Harrison went to Bell’s address to speak with her and she confirmed she had hit the child as a form of punishment.

A total of four children live at Bell’s residence and a report was immediately filled with the Department of Child Services.

Bell was charged with child abuse or neglect/endangerment and released on $1,500 bond.
