Lenoir City police officer
arrested for domestic assault, records show
A Lenoir City police officer is facing a domestic assault charge, according to an arrest warrant LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WVLT) - Christopher Law, an officer with the Lenoir City Police Department, was arrested Tuesday for domestic assault, according to court records obtained by WVLT News. According to Law’s arrest warrant, the officer was at a retirement party on Monday and was asked to leave after drinking too much. “Coworkers at the party contacted [a family member]... to ask her to pick up Christopher,” his warrant reads. “When [they] arrived Christopher was intoxicated and began yelling at [them].”
The
warrant goes on to state that Law called the family member
expletives at the event in front of a six-year-old child.
The
warrant also said that the family member claimed he had
acted similarly before.
According to a Facebook post
from LCPD, Law was recognized as officer of the year for
2023.
Also, last year Law participated in “Hunks in Heels,” an event that supports Iva’s Place, a nonprofit aimed at helping victims of domestic violence. “In my career I’ve responded to hundreds of Domestic Violence related calls. I have encountered hundreds of victims; a lot of whom have been scared to get away from the situation they are in,” Law’s biography on the website states. “I would hope by walking in Hunks in Heels I can raise not only situational awareness for domestic violence, but I can also help raise money for Iva’s Place to continue to remain a safe haven for those in need of it.”
WVLT News has reached out to LCPD multiple times for a
statement and to confirm whether Law is still with the
department, but has not heard back. Law was arraigned on
Wednesday.
