A
63-year-old Lenoir City man was pronounced dead Saturday at the
University of Tennessee Medical Center after a crash in Maryville.
Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp said Chris Watson
was driving his 2001 Ford Mustang eastbound on William Blount Drive
when he turned left onto U.S. Highway 411 South.
A 2007 Jeep Patriot driven by 28-year-old Lindsey
Marie McCall ran a red light and hit his car, a report states.
The impact propelled the Mustang into the northbound
lane, where it hit a 1996 Toyota Corolla driven by 17-year-old Angel
Sanchez of Madisonville.
Sanchez told police he swerved to try to avoid the
crash but was unsuccessful, a report states.
Watson’s passenger, 56-year-old Nancy Tilley of
Lenoir City, was taken by American Medical Response ambulance with
critical injuries.
Tilley was listed in serious condition Wednesday at
UT.
McCall, of Tom McCall Road, Maryville, wasn’t
injured. A preliminary drug and alcohol test was negative, according
to Crisp.
“We don’t anticipate alcohol being a factor,”
Crisp said.
A 13-year-old passenger in the Corolla was
treated for injuries and released by East Tennessee Children’s
Hospital.
He was wearing a seat belt, a report states.
Crisp said McCall was cited for disregarding a
red signal.
