Lenoir City man jailed after threat

A Lenoir City man is facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening to kill a woman.

According to Lenoir City Police Department Inv. Brad Brown, Travis Brian Hood, 39, left a voicemail March 18 at a financial institution in Farragut saying he had been to a branch office in Lenoir City with a gun in his hand and that the employees were gone.
“This was just after the defendant had stated to the corporate ... office that he was en route to the Lenoir City branch to shoot (a financial adviser), an employee of (the financial institution) who handles his account,” Brown wrote in a report. “The message was placed from a phone that is known to be his and (I) was able to identify his voice based on previous interaction.”

The business closed and hired private security because of the threat.

Hood, 39, Lenoir City, was charged with two counts of false reports and two counts harassment (verbal threat) and held on $40,000 bond.

Dispatched to an apartment complex in Lenoir City for possible vandalism, Lenoir City Police Officer Jordan Samuels spoke with a victim who claimed Rebecca Ann Key had driven her vehicle and the rear window had been broken. LCPD officer Cody Fritts had prior knowledge of Key having an active warrant. Upon knocking on one of the apartment doors, Christina Cook answered and told Key there was someone for her at the door. Key was sitting with another woman. In plain view on a table beside the woman was a blue pill cutter along with multiple cut straws. Law enforcement was granted a search inside. Key admitted to having heroin in her wallet. “Located in her wallet was .2 grams of heroin,” Fritts wrote in a report. “The substance tested positive for the presence of heroin using TruNarc.” Key also opened a black clipboard beside her on the couch that had 1.5 grams of methamphetamine and digital scales. Key’s backpack also had more than 200 baggies, four glass marijuana pipes, scales and a drug ledger. Officers found 1.2 grams of meth in Cook’s purse, along with a glass pipe in her bra.
