News Herald Arrest Report
Lenoir City man facing assault charges
A Lenoir City man has been charged with two counts of domestic assault after Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Luke Hawkins, Cpl. Zac Frye and Lenoir City police officers were sent to his home Saturday. Dustin Aaron Wampler, 36, approached the officers with a “hostile attitude,” Hawkins wrote in a report. According to a woman in the house, Wampler fell asleep after taking nerve relaxers and “suddenly woke up in a state of anger.” A woman reported Wampler then hit a boy in the room following an argument.
“(The woman) stated that she then stepped in between them,”
Hawkins wrote in a report. “Mr. Wampler then struck her in the
left side of her face with a closed fist and grabbed her around
the neck with both hands. At that time (another man) then struck
Mr. Wampler in the head with his walking cane. She stated that
Mr. Wampler then struck (the man) several times in the head with
a closed fist.”
The woman and the man refused
to give written statements. The boy said the verbal
altercation with Wampler was never physical.
Wampler was treated by
paramedics on scene for minor lacerations on his forehead.
“I then spoke with Mr.
Wampler,” Hawkins wrote in a report. “He stated (the woman)
had removed his pants to embarrass him and was woken up to
verbal harassment. When I asked Mr. Wampler what had
happened to his head, he stated he ran into the wall. Based
on victim/witness statements, it was determined Mr. Wampler
was the primary aggressor. When Mr. Wampler was being placed
into custody, a physical altercation took place between Mr.
Wampler, myself and Deputy Mark Rodriguez.”
Wampler was charged with
resisting arrest and two counts of domestic
assault-misdemeanor and released on $3,000 bond.
Loudon woman leaves baby in
carLoudon Police Officer Chris Law was dispatched Saturday
for a Loudon woman wandering around while her child was
unattended in a vehicle.
Clare Marie Ferguson, 37,
left her 10-month-old in a car that wasn’t running and had
the windows rolled up. Law spoke to a witness who said
Ferguson left the car unattended for 15 minutes before the
witness realized there was a baby in the car.
“I observed a female later
identified as Clare Ferguson who was unsteady on her feet,
bloodshot eyes and slurred speech,” Law wrote in a report.
“Mr. Ferguson was confused on where she was and very
incoherent. … Upon consent from Ms. Ferguson to search her
vehicle, I located a small container, which is commonly
known to carry medicine, a half-cut straw with orange
residue and a pill bottle belonging to (a man) containing 12
1mg Clonzepams.”
A family member of
Ferguson was called to take the child, and a “DCS
referral will be made,” Law wrote in a report. Ferguson
was also served with a warrant for violation of
probation. Paramedics checked on a rash all over the
baby’s bottom, stating it was from “neglecting to change
the child’s diaper.”
Ferguson was charged with
non-violent child abuse or neglect, child endangerment,
two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, simple
possession/casual exchange, violation of probation and
public intoxication and held without bond.
