Lenoir City man faces assault, pot charges
A Lenoir City man is facing domestic assault and drug
charges after law enforcement responded to a call off Town Creek
Road of a person with a firearm.
Loudon County Sheriffs Office Deputy Lance Anderson
talked with James Edward Phillips, 55, after arriving on the scene.
Phillips said he got into an argument with his sisters boyfriend
because a piece of sheet rock blocked his door. He demanded the man
leave the property. After speaking to others at the residence,
Anderson was told Phillips had a handgun during the time of the
argument.
The complainant stated the offender was standing
above the victim in a breezeway that connects the main house to the
garage apartment where the offender lives, Anderson wrote in the
report. I then spoke with the victim and he stated he told the
offender to leave the residence and the offender stated he was going
to get a gun and shoot him. The victim stated he never saw a gun but
heard what sounded as a gun being loaded and cocked.
While speaking with Phillips inside his apartment,
Anderson saw a gun matching the description given by witnesses. He
also saw a grinder, cigarette rolling papers and a green leafy
substance believed to be marijuana, which weighed 23 grams. Three
firearms were taken for safe keeping.
Phillips was charged with aggravated domestic
assault, possession of a Schedule VI substance-felony and possession
of drug paraphernalia and released on $21,000 bond.
