Lenoir City man calls 911 twenty-five times, arrested

A Lenoir City man faces multiple charges — including possession of methamphetamine — after multiple vague calls to the police led to his arrest.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, Officer Riley Miller with the Lenoir City Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a 911 call.

According to the report obtained by The News-Herald, Central Dispatch advised Miller that a male subject had called in several times on 911 whispering that he “needed help” but wouldn’t give further information. The first several calls plotted in the area of a residence on Highland Circle in Lenoir City. However, during the investigation officers made contact with that homeowner and confirmed the call didn’t come from the residence.

While units were still in the area of Highland Circle, several more 911 calls from the same phone number came through Central Dispatch. The 911 calls were then plotted in the area of the wood line between Highway 321 and Highland Circle.

Officers checked the wooded area, announcing their presence — but were unsuccessful in finding anyone in distress. After searching the surrounding area, 911 received several more calls from the same number where they stated the male subject continued whispering that he needed help.

Miller, along with Officer Eldridge, drove through a field just off of Highway 321 in Lenoir City where they located a male subject underneath a tree.

Contact was made with the male at which time he appeared to be under the influence of a stimulant. The male subject was identified as 36-year-old Rosalio Granados-Gonzalez of Lenoir City and, according to the police report, he stated that he was being chased by a group of people.

Granados-Gonzalez handed officers his wallet and stated that he had “meth” inside of it and reportedly gave officers permission to retrieve it. Located inside the wallet was a small bag containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

The approximate weight of the crystal- like substance was believed to be less than half a gram. And, according to the report, Granados-Gonzalez appeared very paranoid during the time of the investigation. It was determined that the suspect was a danger to himself and the public — and he was placed under arrest and transported to the Loudon County Jail.

During the investigation, it was found that Granados-Gonzalez called 911 twenty-five times within 45 minutes to an hour and it was ultimately deemed that there was no immediate emergency.

Granados-Gonzalez was charged with misuse of 911 emergency system, manufacture, sale or possession of methamphetamine, public intoxication and was held on $4,000 bond.
