Lenoir City duo charged with possession after speeding in school zone

Speeding in a school zone resulted in an unpleasant education for a couple of Lenoir City men, who are now facing numerous charges after the vehicle they were driving and riding in, respectively, was searched.

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, Officer Kamron Kelley with the Loudon Police Department reportedly clocked a silver Jeep SUV driving 38 mph in a 15-mph school zone on Steekee Road in Loudon, Tenn.

The police officer then pursued and stopped the vehicle at Blairland Baptist Church, where the driver was identified as 24-year-old Jose Jimenez of Lenoir City.

According to the police report obtained by The News-Herald, Jimenez stated he didn’t have a driver’s license or any insurance on the vehicle he was driving.

The police officer then asked Jimenez if there were any illegal weapons or drugs in the vehicle to which Jimenez reportedly replied, “No.”

Officer Kelley then asked Jimenez if he (the police officer) could search the car which resulted in a verbal consent to do so. Kelley then opened the glove box and discovered a glass smoking pipe with residue still inside.

Upon further inspection of the car, it was revealed that on the driver’s side of the vehicle there was a small plastic bag with a white substance in it in the folddown ashtray located on the left side of the steering wheel.

Jimenez confirmed that the small bag found in the ashtray was meth.

The passenger, identified as 23-year-old Timothy Wayne Stokely of Lenoir City, and the driver both stated neither the meth nor the glass pipe belonged to them. Nevertheless, Jimenez and Stokely were both placed under arrest and placed in the back of Officer Kelley’s patrol unit.

According to the report, Stokely asked if he could speak and he was read his rights before being allowed to do so. Stokely stated the pipe and meth actually belonged to him — and not Jimenez — before being taken to the Loudon County Jail.

Jimenez was charged with license required, manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, speed limit and was released on $3,000 bond.

Stokely was charged with manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and was released on $3,000 bond.
