From the Loudon County Sherriff's Office
LCSO AWARDED $50,000 MENTAL HEALTH TRANSPORT GRANT LOUDON COUNTY, TENNESSEE - The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a $50,000 Mental Health Transport Grant. This grant was awarded through the Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs and is aimed at providing Mental Health Transports for mentally ill patients. LCSO has partnered with Amerimed Transportation Services to handle all mental health transports. Traditionally the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office handles mental health transports from hospitals to mental health facilities. The grant will allow for medical professionals, trained to deal with mental health patients, to transport these individuals. “Our main goal in securing this grant was to not victimize mental health individuals and allow for trained professionals to transport these patients” said Sheriff Jimmy Davis. “We are extremely thankful for this grant and the cooperation between our office, Amerimed Transportation Services, Priority Ambulance Service, Loudon County E-911 and Fort Loudoun Medical Center.” |
