LC BOE Election

Last Thursday's Lenoir City school board election was a first. Tammy Powell, a new comer, a total outsider, not only won a seat on the board, she was the top vote getter. She bested all three of the long time incumbent with Glenn McNish ultimately, coming in the forth spot, losing his seat. But it could have been any of the incumbents to lose. All three incumbents were within 14 votes of each other for the last spot.

*Rick Chadwick 304
*Mitch Ledbetter 307
*Glenn McNish 293
Tammy Powell 386

Ms. Powell was a top notch candidate and worked hard to win a seat. But this is also a statement on how Lenoir City voters feel about their incumbent officials in the city from the top to the bottom.

Ms. Powell and Todd Kennedy are proof that incumbency in Lenoir City is not a birthright or an entitlement. Other candidates can win Lenoir City elections.

From Tammy Powell:

Congratulations to all the candidates! Working a campaign is very tiresome but so rewarding! I prayed God’s will be done long before I started this journey!

I have so many people to thank for all their love and encouragement! So many teachers and public officials took their chances on me being the new person and supported me along the way!

Thank you Lenoir City for showing me great love and support by voting for me! I am honored that you entrusted me with your children’s future. I look forward to working with everyone in our community! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever need me! Sending so much love!
