Knoxville man caught with stolen van
A Knoxville man is facing multiple charges after
being stopped by law enforcement while driving a stolen van.
Advised by dispatch that the owner was following his
stolen 2001 Ford Econoline van on Hickory Creek Road, Loudon County
Sheriffs Office Deputy Austin Parton watched the vehicle driven by
William Patrick Power, 37, turn into a driveway on Gladstone Drive.
Power was walking in front of the vehicle when Parton
met him. Power claimed he received a text to pick up the van and fix
it, and that he took the van to undisclosed locations in Knox and
Loudon counties.
Dispatch confirmed Power had a warrant for his
arrest for a violation of probation. After Power was placed
under arrest, Parton found .07 grams of a crystal-like substance
believed to be methamphetamine, a broken glass pipe and two
checks in the name of Power's mother.
I then checked the VIN number ... on the white
Ford van and I was advised that the vehicle should have a
Tennessee registration on it, Parton wrote in the report,
noting an Alabama registration was placed on it. Two dirt bikes
were found in the back of the van and they were towed from the
scene.
Power had his son, 12, with him at the time of
the arrest.
Power was charged with theft of property,
manufacture, sell, delivery or resale of a Schedule II
substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of
probation, driving on a revoked/suspended license, identity
theft, contraband in a penal institution, theft of property and
six counts of forgery and held on $138,000 bond.
