LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WATE) — A standoff is over and all those involved are safe the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance in Lenoir City Tuesday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office responded to the disturbance between a father and son on the 11000 block of Highway 11E around 1:45 p.m. Loudon County Chief Deputy Zac Frye said the standoff was over around 5 p.m. According to Frye, the son was identified as Darian Farley.

Frye said that dispatch were told Farley had threatened his father and killed their family dog. Loudon County Sheriff Jimmy Davis told reporters following the incident that the dog did not die and was taken to the University of Tennessee.

Deputies were able to get the father and another resident out of the home. Farley barricaded himself in the basement with a hammer and possibly a knife, Davis said.

A Blount County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team assisted in the standoff and used a robot to establish a visual of the Farley. Farley did not respond to negotiators. Gas was deployed into the basement and a K9 officer was used to apprehend him.

Davis said that the father claimed in interviews with investigators that his son recently went through a breakup and accused him of showing the dog more affection than him. “It all worked out good that, obviously, if there is some mental illness and things he can get some help instead of ending tragically,” Davis said. “
 

Farley suffered minor injuries. We’re still waiting to learn what charges he may face.
