"Just Be Kind" signs posted across Loudon Co.
LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) Two Loudon County women are doing their part to make a difference in their community through simple acts of kindness. Jennifer Mullins and her friends are turning blank signs into three word reminders for their fellow Loudon County residents. "I don't think that people are unkind on purpose or that its intentional," Mullins said. The signs say "Just Be Kind" and are popping up in all colors, all over the area. One of them caught Betsy Batt's eye while driving down Highway 72. "It just sticks with you," Batts said. She said the bright sign made her stop, reflect and smile. "I think we can all learn from that little sign, and be a little bit more positive," Batts said. That's the reaction Lauran Walden says they're looking for when people pass the signs. The money raised from each $10 sign goes to help families in need in their community. They've already helped pay utility bills for a family dealing with growing medical expenses. "We're spreading something that we all needed to hear, that we all forget," Walden said. She says it's something that we can all fix easily. "Just a simple smile, a simple gesture, sharing love can make a huge difference." They hope to do that throughout East Tennessee and beyond. If you're interested in purchasing a sign click here. |
