Mr. Simpson served in several capacities for Lenoir
City and Loudon County government over the years.
James
"Jim" Hugh Simpson, age 81, of Lenoir City, Tennessee, passed
away Friday, December 28, 2018. He was born December 24, 1937, in
Hermitage Tennessee. Jim is preceded in death by parents, Frank and
Martha Harrison Simpson and brothers, Frank Martin Simpson, Robert
Simpson and Charles Simpson. He is survived by his loving wife of 58
years, Anne Carolyn Smith Simpson (they were married in 1960 );
niece, Dr Holly Simpson; special secretary, Ramona Sutton and
beloved Rat Terrier, Rudy.
Jim attended Texas A& M University and was First
Trumpet in the Aggies Band. He enlisted in the U S Army in 1957 and
served in the 101 first Army and served as a paratrooper and also
played first Trumpet in the Army Band. After discharge, Jim attended
Southern Illinois University at Carbondale receiving a BA degree in
Mechanical Engineering. After graduating from Southern Illinois
University Jim and Anne moved to Oak Ridge and Jim worked as a
Mechanical Engineer for Union Carbide. While working for Union
Carbide, Jim attended The University of Tennessee and received his
law degree. After passing the Bar Exam,
Jim joined the Law firm of: Arnold, Winfrey,
Russell & McMurray in Lenoir City, Tennessee for a few years and
then established his solo practice of James H Simpson Esquire in
Lenoir City and continued to practice law for 35 years until he
retired in 2010. Jim loved playing golf and bridge, traveling with
his wife, gun collecting and fishing at Buzzard Roost.
