Is That All They Want?
Tellico Village
Property Owners Association members, Mike Colacone
and Bruce Johnson,
recently submitted their "suggestions" of how the rest of Loudon County
tax payers can supplement the POA. Not sure why this is coming up now,
but it wouldn't be hard to make the jump that the POA has hit some
financial problems.
(1) Loudon County tax payers already contribute $40,000.00 per year to the Tellico Village Fire Department and other amounts to all the other county fire departments. (2) Loudon County tax payers already pay for the staff at the Tellico Village library as they do for all the other library's. (3) Loudon County tax payers already fully funds an outstanding Senior Citizen Center, open to all residents of Loudon County. Maybe the POA could contribute to the existing Senior Citizen Center. (4) The Loudon County Swim Team is no affiliation to any Loudon County organization or school. The POA should charge what ever fees they feel necessary for those using their facilities. (5)(6) Loudon County already donates over $150,000.00 per year to the Loudon County Visitor's Bureau that already markets Tellico Village and other locations and events in the county. (7) Loudon County tax payers already donate over a million dollars to local non profits. Timeless Tellico Foundation was established to assist activities exclusively within the village. Maybe they could donate to other non profits as well. (8) Loudon County tax payers can not legally and will not be laundering money through Tellico Reservoir Development Agency, TRDA, in order to prop up the POA. The problem is still the same, the village has way outgrown their status as a subdivision and must take the next step to become their own city. Having to rely on a property owner's association to go round begging money is no way to run an operation of this size. There's an awful lot of really good folks in Tellico Village who came here to spend their retirement years in a comfortable community with an easy way of life, a low cost of living and low, low taxes. It's unfortunate the POA is putting their community in such a negative light. |
