News Herald Arrest Report
Intoxicated woman with children in car charged
After responding to a report of a gold Mercedes
recklessly driving southbound on Interstate 75, Loudon County
Sheriffs Office Deputy Craig Brewer caught up with the vehicle and
watched it turn into the median and abruptly stop.
Once out of his patrol car, Brewer saw Alexandra Ryan
Urrutia, 32, behind the drivers door squatting with her pants down
around her knees to urinate. Urrutia said she was on her way to
Knoxville from Blacksburg, Va., and she thought she was in Bristol.
On her getting back into the vehicle, I noticed she
had put a Budweiser 24 oz. can in the seat with her 8-year-old son,
Brewer wrote in the report. On talking with her further, I could
smell a strong odor of a intoxicating beverage coming from her
breath and person.
Brewer found three other 24-ounce Budweiser cans
empty in the floorboard. Children ages 4, 6 and 8 were located
inside the vehicle at the time of arrest.
Urrutia was charged with driving under the influence
and reckless endangerment and released on $16,000 bond.
