Intoxicated couple evades two de

A high-speed car pursuit resulted in the arrest of a young couple during the holidays.

Jacob Duwayne Heiple, 20, Lenoir City, was driving Thursday in Loudon with Alexus Marie Beck, 19, Greenback, as a passenager at speeds reaching 112 mph in a 50 mph zone.

The couple passed Loudon County Sheriff's Office Deputy Daniel Allen on Sugarlimb Road as he was heading toward Interstate 75. Allen immediately reported and followed the speeding vehicle but was unable to catch up. Shortly afterward, the vehicle passed and outran another deputy.

Not long after evading both deputies, Lenoir City Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Browder Hollow Road.

Lt. Charles Butler recognized the couple fitting the description from the alert. When Butler approached the vehicle, Heiple started the car. Butler managed to get the couple to exit the vehicle.

Heiple admitted to evading the deputies and to drinking five or six shots the hour before driving. Beck also admitted to drinking.

Both were taken into custody and transported to the Loudon County Jail.

Heiple was charged with evading arrest, reckless driving, underage consumption and underage driving while intoxicated and held without bond.

Beck was charged with underage consumption and held without bond.
