Inky Swiney Passes
Swiney, Bernie Ray
“Inky” age 79 of Loudon, slipped through the bonds of this life on
November 17th, 2016. Inky was active in the Loudon
community for most of his life. He was a lifelong member of the
Loudon United Methodist Church where he served as the music director
for 40 years. He was a member of the Loudon City Council for 18
years followed by as the Mayor for 20 plus years. Many city projects
were accomplished during his tenure which gave him a great source of
satisfaction. A banker by trade, he was always quick with a smile
and eager to help those in need.
Inky was
preceded in death by his parents, Bernie and Clara Francis (Babb)
Swiney and brother, Ronny Paul Swiney. Survivors include his wife
of 61 years, Betty Jean (York) Swiney; son and daughter in-law,
Bernie R “Buddy” and Nela Swiney, Dayton; daughter and son in-law,
Ann and Jerry Atchley, Louisville; brother and sister in law, the
Honorable David Michael and Suzann Swiney, Knoxville; 5
grandchildren, CeJay, Cassie, LaDonna, Clayton and Stephanie; one
special little girl, JeJah Deluca who called him Daddy; several
nieces, nephews and special cousins.
Services
honoring and remembering Inky Swiney will be held 2:00 PM Saturday,
Nov. 19th with Rev. Walt Simmerman officiating. Interment
to follow in Loudon County Memorial Gardens. Contributions in memory
of Inky may be made to the Loudon United Methodist Church, P.O. Box
342, Loudon, TN 37774. The family will receive friends 11:00 AM –
1:45PM at Loudon United Methodist Church, 509 Mulberry St. Loudon.
