Immigration Protest
Last week, a group of folks held a protest
march along Broadway in Lenoir City complete with chants and
signs. I will assume they were protesting Trump's
deportation rules. But not being able to read or speak
Spanish, I don't know for sure what they were protesting. I
don't know if they were supporting or opposing deportation
of illegal immigrants.
The one chant I did understand was viva me-he-ico. This apparently means, long live Mexico. Given some were wearing Mexican flags and chanting viva me-he-ico, I assume they were protesting deportation. The puzzling thing is, if they are so supportive of Mexico, where they came from, and if Mexico should long live, why not go back home and make their country great rather than protest the United States? I don't think I've ever seen a video of a group of Americans sneak in to Mexico then protest against Mexican laws. Anyway, below is a link to the video. |
