Illegal Annexation 15
Back in February, the county filed a lawsuit against
Lenoir City for two illegal annexations. A month later, Lenoir City
answered the suit by filing a motion to dismiss. This is always a common
ploy in most lawsuits. Since March, there has been no move by the city
to set a date for their motion.
Last week, commissioners were informed by Kyle Baisley, the attorney handling the case for the county, that Circuit Court judge, Mike Pemberton, has set a date for a "scheduling conference" on the case. What this means is, the judge wants to know an update on the case and will likely set a date on the city's motion. The "scheduling conference" is set for November 27, 10:45 am in Loudon. Hopefully, sooner than later, we will be able to move forward with the suit and begin depositions and discovery. |
