Hurley Loses, Again
About five weeks ago, Julia Hurley's attorney, T
Scott Jones appealed the Chancellor's decision, to the Tennessee appeals
court, not to dismiss the case against his client.
The appeals court handed down their ruling Tuesday. The appeals court found that Hurley's appeal should not have been allowed and dismissed the appeal. What that means, Hurley is headed to court on the merits of the case. The earliest the case could be heard before the chancellor would be August but more likely December. The District Attorney's office will be seeking the earliest possible hearing date. Julia Hurley moved out of her elected commission district two years ago effectively vacating her seat. She has continued to fight the case since then and has also continued to draw her county commission stipend and benefits. I'm sure Ms. Hurley and her attorney are just trying to run out the clock to the next election. |
