Hurley Appeals

In the ongoing soap opera that is Julia Hurley, her attorney has filed an appeal to the Tennessee Court Of Appeals. The appeal is not on the merits of the case or if Hurley is guilty of moving out of her elected district but on a paperwork technical issue.

Esquire Jones maintains that the bond posted in the filing of the case was not filed appropriately. He has argued that case before Chancellor Williams on two different occasions. Both times the Chancellor has disagree with the attorney's position.

Filing with the appeals court has the likely potential of delaying the April hearing on the actual merits of Ms. Hurley's case, which may be the only strategy left for Esquire Jones. After all, how does he defend the indefensible?

Jones has defended other local officials in the past with the technicality defense and won.

Received a note from a friend the other day who had been following the Hurley story. He said, If I was charged with a murder I didn't commit I'd want a good lawyer. If I was charged with a murder that I did commit I'd want T. Scott Jones as my lawyer.
