Some of his colleagues might be, but state Rep. Kent Calfee (R-Kingston) insists he’s not a target of the federal investigation that caused agents to raid the Cordell Hull Building in Nashville on Friday.

“I have no clue what the investigation is about,” Calfee said. “I just got off a conference call with Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton, and he reiterated that I am not under investigation.”

Since becoming speaker, Sexton said he has been contacted by federal authorities regarding an ongoing investigation into former speaker Glen Casada's office.

“It’s my understanding that Rep. Calfee is not part of the investigation,” Sexton said during a press conference on Friday.

FBI agents, according to published reports, were seen leaving Calfee’s Nashville office with boxes on Friday.

“I understand that people in the press down there said they did go in my office and maybe even took out some files, which I don’t keep any files,” Calfee said. “My assistant does, and I have no idea what that’s about. She doesn’t know.”

Calfee’s legislative assistant, Nadine Korby, has been placed on paid administrative leave until further notice.

“I am not under investigation and that’s all there is to it,” Calfee said.
