Here's Your Sign
You probably remember a couple months ago when
someone put up the giant Biden-Harris sign on the building in down town
Lenoir City. The sign was met with furious opposition. The incident made
local and national news. Most people said it wasn't about it being a
Biden sign, it all about the historic downtown business district was no
place for politics. Fast forward a couple months and now there's another political sign gracing the historic downtown business district but so far, there's been no furious response. Lenoir City mayor, Tony Aikens, who's facing his first challenge for re-election since becoming mayor in 2010, now has his face and message hanging on the wall of a building on Broadway, smack in the middle of the historic downtown business district where politics has no place. No idea who approved, paid for or hung the banner but apparently, the Biden sign was offensive for the historic downtown business district where politics has no place, but the Aikens sign is A-OK I guess?
Actually, I kind of predicted, Tony on the wall, last year. Remember the butterfly fiasco back in July 2023, Tony Hates Butterflys? I suggested in that story, what Aikens would like to see was himself on the wall. By golly, he got his picture on the wall. I suggested the building owner paint a picture of Aikens on the wall.
