Most know what a easy touch I am about traveling out of the county and how much I enjoy taking trips. So this year, for her birthday, I took her on a train ride. Most also know, none of that's true. But, Sarah did want to take a train ride for her birthday so that's what we did. Happy wife, happy life.

Unbeknownst to us, just down the road in Delano Tennessee, there is a train ride called the Hiwassee River Rail Adventure. It's on an old rail line that runs along the Hiwassee River almost into North Carolina. They offer two different trips. One is four and a half hours the other is eight hours long. We opted for the four and half hour trip.

It really was a lot of fun. The passenger cars are from the fifties. The whole adventure was a bit like stepping back in time when railroads were king.

I'll spare the details, but will say that if you have a day to kill, this is a fun way to do it. Suggestion, go first class, in the dome car. Free snacks.
