News Herald Arrest Report
Gun
involved in domestic dispute
A Lenoir City woman was arrested June 1 and charged with aggravated assault after a physical altercation involving a gun at her home. Lenoir City Police Officer Ethan Carroll was dispatched to a physical domestic at a Lenoir City apartment. There, Carroll made contact with Kimberly Ann Edmonds, 36, who stated she and the victim, another household member, had gotten into an argument because they refused to watch over Edmonds child while she went to work. Edmonds claimed they had a verbal agreement for the victim to do so in exchange for living in the home rent-free. After the victim refused to watch over the child, Edmonds texted them she would start charging them monthly rent. The victim responded that they would not pay rent and would instead collect their belongings and move out.
When the victim came
over to pick up their stuff, they and Edmonds got into an
argument over which items were whose. Edmonds tried to push
the victim out of the house, while the victim pushed back to
stay inside and continue collecting their things according
to Carrolls report.
Edmonds then pulled out a handgun and threatened to shoot herself after the victim left. The victim tried to remove the gun from Edmonds possession, resulting in more physical exchanges between the two. When Carroll spoke with Edmonds after the fact, she said she had no suicidal intentions and had only wanted to make the victim feel guilty. Two friends of the victim witnessed the altercation and provided written statements confirming the story. Edmonds was charged with aggravated assault and released on $5,000 bond. May 27
